Lake Shore Fire District

FAST Team

OSHA recently passed a ruling, making it mandatory for interior firefighters to follow a "2 in / 2 out" procedure.  Simply put, there must be an equal amount of firefighters on standby outside the structure to the amount of firefighters working inside.  If an emergency within the structure were to arise, the group outside, known as the FAST team, would respond in on a moment's notice, and perform the rescue or special operation needed.

The Lake Shore Fire District has made a name for itself in following this rule and the training included.  We were one of the first fire departments in Monroe County to have a bag of all the necessary rescue equipment on each truck COMPLETELY separate from the normal tools used throughout the incident.

Our reputation for quick response and professional actions has landed us mutual aid agreements with other departments.  When a department has a structure fire call, they may call on any fire department to help out in their time of need.  Our FAST Team has been activated on MANY occasions by other fire departments, and we have eagerly responded to assist.

Keep checking back!  Shortly we'll have a larger description of the equipment we use, and the methods we use in conjunction with OSHA rulings and standards.
